Discovering God’s plan and
direction for one’s life is important in the development of
nurturing disciples. Therefore, having a close relationship with
God is encouraged individually and in community at Hayes Memorial
United Methodist Church
Spiritual
Formation is defined as:
- A gift from God where we are prompt to
seek an intentional, intimate relationship with God in order to
conform our lives to the spirit and pattern of Jesus Christ. "So
faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through
the word of Christ." Romans 10:17
- Our individual and community journey's
where time and sacred space is given to practice the spiritual
disciplines of Prayer, Bible Study, Contemplation, Silence,
Listening and Discernment. “You will search for me. And
when you search for me with all your heart, you will find me!”
Jeremiah 29:13.
- Spiritual Formation involves serious
consideration of scripture, in discovering the spirit and pattern
of Jesus Christ. It goes beyond monologue into dialogue that stirs
–up the awareness of God’s presence and work in our lives. “Live
in me. Make your home in me just as I do in you. In the same way
that a branch can’t bear grapes by itself but only by being
joined to the vine, you can’t bear fruit unless you are joined
with me.” John 15:4. |

Nightly Prayers
"Now I lay me down to
sleep, I pray dear Lord my soul to keep. To watch over me both day
and night, and help me do the things that's right." |
